It’s more of a practice than a “thing” — and it’s a transformational practice at that.
Morning Pages is when you put pen to paper first thing in the morning and write a stream of consciousness that lasts several pages. You jot down anything and everything crossing your mind — there’s no wrong way to do it. Morning Pages are for your eyes only, so you don’t need to worry about proper grammar, sentence structure, or anything at all other than emptying your thoughts onto paper.
Morning Pages are meant to provoke, clarify, comfort, prioritize and synchronize the day at hand. This can help you confidently move into your day while also learning about yourself and seeing what is actually on your mind.
For each of us, it can be easy to jump into the day reactively, vs proactively. This sets you up for fielding everyone and everyone else’s needs instead of focusing on what the most important actions, thoughts and interactions are that will lead you into the day you desire vs dread.
The morning pages will put you on the right track to experiencing more of what you do want with clarity, focus, joy and ease.
The key is not to overthink it: just write what comes to mind, anything at all, and continue the practice each morning. You will clear the mental clutter while creating a direct path day by day to all that is possible for you!
I personally do this both morning and night. It starts and ends my day with intention and allows me to help myself stay on track. In fact, just while I was sitting down to type this up, I had a thought pop up that lead me over to social media then to my youtube page, then to google- 20 minutes later, I was doing nothing productive I can tell you that. I closed the tabs and got back to typing to share this with you. Day by day, the little things add up and create amazing results.
